Service is poor. I've visited this location when it first opened and didn't go back because of the service. When customers are waiting at the drive thru and at the counter, you can't be clowning (joking around about personal life, throwing things around, etc) and making them wait. Spending 15 minutes waiting to be serviced is poor.

I'm Charles - and I'm a Popeye's addict (Hi Charles) I've been hooked on Popeye's chicken from my first encounter while living in Kansas City in '01. As I've gotten older, I've kind of lost my love for fast food. Tastes change. But my love, nay, NEED for Popeye's is as strong as ever. And now the bastards have built a location on NW Expwy. 10 minutes from my home. Distance was the only thing keeping me from a regular fix but now that excuse is gone. Curse you Popeye's. You're the only thing standing between me and total smugness over my healthy diet. OK that Evil Temptress Little Debbie gets in the way at times but that's another story.

The food is good, BUT.......they have daily specials (that's a good thing), BUT, you won't get it if you don't ask for it (that's bad). It was my first time in the restaurant, I didn't know about the specials until after I ordered and paid, and was waiting for my food. When I mentioned it, they gave me a free drink but I still paid a dollar more than I was supposed. Just kind of leaves a bad taste in your mouth, ya know what I mean?

I am obsessed with Popeyes! We have 2 locations back home but they aren't in the most convenient locations... so I rarely take the time to venture that far our for fast food. However, during my stay in OKC, I saw a sign for Popeyes and quickly googled some locations and found one 5 minutes from where I was staying. After my run, I figured it would be a good time to counteract the calories I lost by loading up on some good ol' fried chicken! So off to Popeyes I went, I was happy to find that it was right off the Expressway and wasn't impossible to get to, a key factor for someone like me who has no idea where anything is! And I was even doubly happy to see they had a drive through, how up-scale! It made me regret choosing not to show up in my pajamas! I pulled up to the drive through, contemplated my order and changed my sides several times and each time, the lady behind the speaker didn't bat an eyelash, she got everything right the first time! I was thoroughly impressed because I am used to silent static when I try and make a change to my order, usually I assume they just ignore the request and act like it never happened. Not the case here! I pulled to the window right away, handed over my card, got my drink and food all within 1 minute. What speedy service! As for the food, I ordered their Tuesday special meal, chicken breast and leg with a biscuit and one side, I ordered red beans and rice and another side of mashed potatoes. As expected, the chicken tasted hot and fresh out the kitchen. And per usual both sides were phenomenal. The biscuit was okay, I prefer to eat mine with a packet of Popeye's honey, I forgot that fact until after I got back to the hotel and ate it, hence the reason for the docked star, they forgot to ask if I wanted honey at the window! A little harsh? Perhaps! The fact that this popeyes only has 3 reviews is beyond me, and after relishing in my meal, I was so inspired I felt I needed to yelp this. Quite strange to think this meal compelled such a lengthy review on a fried chicken establishment!

I had never tried Popeye's at any place before. I decided to try this place since it was close to my home and they had some offers going on. This place has the rudest staff ever. My order took ages and I wasn't even given any apologies for the delay. There seemed to be some kind of a mutiny between the staff and the manager with none of them paying any attention to the orders or the customers. Anyway, after finally receiving my order, I had to ask the manager for some sauces and he rolled his eyes to make it look like it was a major request. The whole thing felt like I had caused him a lot of inconvenience for receiving the order late and not the other way around. The chicken was greasy, tasteless and terrible. I asked for spicy chicken and what I received was anything but that. I am not too sure if the Popeyes locations everywhere are this bad on the food front or its just this location but this place has left a very bad impression in my mind about the franchise in general.

This Popeyes opened recently in January 2013, at least within the last two weeks as of this review. It is not starting off on a good foot. Service: I don't eat much fast food anymore, but since this Popeyes just opened, I wanted to give it a shot for a Yelp review. I already know I like the Popeyes franchise in general, so it's not like I was going into this blind. The service I received was rather poor. My boyfriend was the one ordering via the drive-thru so he asked for a moment as we browsed the menu. It took us no longer than one minute to figure out what we wanted, and when my boyfriend said he was ready to order there was -dead- silence. About 30 seconds later he repeated himself -again, nothing at all. Another, and last, time it took at least 15 seconds to answer. Yes, counting in seconds seems a little elitist and impatient, but it's called FAST food. I personally have experience working in a fast food joint and when you have that headset on your head for the drive-thru, you hear EVERYTHING. So the employee most definitely heard my boyfriend each time he said he was ready. A simple, "One moment." would have sufficed. When she finally got around to paying any attention to us, Jeff (the bf) said quite clearly at least three times that he was ordering a number TWO DINNER meal. At Popeyes dinner means the entree, biscuit, and a side with no drink. He then said he wanted it spicy and the response was, "Hold up. Wha... how do I do that?". Okay, so maybe she was new? But it's late right now and I highly doubt she's gone all night without making an order 'spicy'. And to say it into the mic? You have to PUSH the button on your headset to talk. Then there was a brief conversation of annoyance and confusion between her and what I assume is the manager. When she came back to repeat the order, she quoted it as a number THREE. So Jeff just gave up and didn't correct her. We just wanted to leave. He ordered my meal with no problem, at least. Now we arrive at the window and it looks like CHAOS inside. The place wasn't even busy, mind you. The manager looked incredibly disgruntled and the employees inside were completely zoned out with "uhhhh" expressions. The same girl who took our order, rambled off the total and snatched Jeff's money quickly and the entire time inside I could hear panicked voices and people looking uncomfortably unsure of what was going on. Suffice to say that I wasn't looking forward to my food. At least twice the girl kept trying to give us a drink, likely meant for the first car. Food: When I do reviews, I like to balance the content of service and the actual food. But this is going to be pretty uneven. I ordered the popcorn shrimp, which came with the buscuit and I got coleslaw as my side. Normally, I would get fries. But in my opinion, something like coleslaw can make or break the quality of food because some can just be awful! Shrimp: The taste is pretty good. The only thing that I'm not a fan of is that this batch tastes rather dry like it's been sitting under the heat lamps too long and they didn't toss it away when the timer was up. Once again, this is something I note due to working fast food for quite a few years. 3/5 Biscuit: Usually when someone mentions Popeyes, they go crazy over the biscuits. These are decently good. Nothing amazing, but tasty. 4/5 Coleslaw: The coleslaw makes me very hesitantly bump this from 2 stars, to 3. It's actually rather good. I am no coleslaw 'person' by any means, so this is a good thing. 4/5
